Meet the Bundoran Fire Crew

Today, we have a Retained Crew of 9, who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The crew is made up of 1 Station Officer, 1 Sub-Station Officer, 1 Driver-Mechanic &

6 Firefighters.

As the Crew is never "Off Call", we have to always have at least 7 out of the 9 Crew on call around the town at any one time, this allows for Firefighters holidays, illness or time off away from the town.

Our average response time to callouts, (that's from time of bleep to Fire Engine on the road) is less than 5 minutes.

As our crew are retained, every member lives and works around the town, and if a 999 or 112 emergency call arises, the pagers are activated and the Brigade can be turned out in an average of 5 minutes. Every member of the Crew is Qualified in First Aid and we also have 2 members trained to First Responder.

On Wednesday 8th June 2005, we joined CAMP WEST which stands for Computer Aided Mobile Programme. This now means that nearly every Fire brigade in the West of Ireland are called out from a Central Control in Castlebar, now known as WRCC

(West Regional Control Centre)

The dedicated Personnel that are on duty in the Control Centre in Castlebar, which is manned 24 hours, 365 days a year, give us all the information we need by means of a paper print-out and we are always in radio communication with them at all times.

All routing directions to get to the Fire incident as well as caller details and other vital information are on this print-out.

CAMP Control Centres in Ireland are WRCC ( Conaught & Donegal), CAMP LEINSTER ( Leinster, Cavan & Monaghan) & CAMP MUNSTER

A Special word of thanks to all the lads on the Crew who provide me with Photographs, Newspaper Cuttings etc, for putting on this website.
