The callsign for this station is DL18 ( Delta Lima One Eight ) and DL18 Alpha 1 for our appliance. Our Station was built in 1975 on recommendation from Bundoran Urban Council for a Brigade to be stationed in the Urban area, and funded by Donegal County Council. Its design is based on the basic Fire Station of the 70's. It has 1 Pump Bay, Office, twin showers and wash room.

It is one of fifteen Retained Stations in County Donegal, with the Fire Station HQ being in Letterkenny. All of these stations have been replaced by new state of the art stations with the exception of ourselves Bundoran, Ballyshannon & Glencolmcille to be completed, hopefully in the coming year.

Our Commanding Officers are made up of the following....

Mr. Bobby McMenamin - Chief Fire Officer

 Mr. Sean Campbell - S.A.C.F.O

Mr. Joseph McTaggart - S.A.C.F.O

The Station provides fire cover for over 30 - 40,000 people at peak periods in the town. There is a noticeable increase in call-outs, and this is down to the fact of the busy 12 month tourist season and the large fire area we now cover. In this area we frequently work with our colleagues in Ballyshannon Fire Brigade DL17 & Donegal Town DL16 (Donegal County Fire Service), Manorhamilton Fire Brigade LM25, (Leitrim County Fire Service) and Sligo Fire Brigade SO11 (Sligo Borough Fire Service), and Belleek Fire Brigade W4031 (Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service)

  ****   Latest News  ****

It has just been announced today 9th July 2009, that Bundoran and Ballyshannon are to get 2 separate New 2 Bay Fire Stations and each town will now retain their Fire Stations. The amalgamation of the 2 stations at Finner is now history. This will go through to the planning stages very shortly.

This is fantastic news for both Towns and the both Crews are delighted with the decision.

Bundoran and Ballyshannon Crews would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people of Bundoran and Ballyshannon who supported the retention of separate Fire Stations in both Towns.

We also would like to thank our Chief Fire Officer, Bobby McMenamin, Donegal County Manager Michael McLoone, Bundoran Town Councillors, Ballyshannon Town Councillors, Donegal County Councillors, Tanaiste Mary Coughlan TD & Minister Finneran for their untiring work with us on this matter.
